The narrative of the exhibition ‘Shepherd Eyes : Tracing myths, cosmologies and the vernacular’ spectates
personal, observed and manifested histories drawn from myths, folklore, sagas, epics, legends and ontological
tales. Through a diverse range of media and art-making methodologies, the works presented by artists share
an interest in traditions of regionalism, fascination for private cosmologies and vernacular dialects. The
parables navigate in purpose and temperament, tracing both true and fictitious records. Some of them
featuring personified animals or natural objects as character. The works span through moments of rupture,
coils of instances and anecdotes, soft embraces alongside frantic and fantastical myth-making.

Belief systems, cosmology, and mythology are difficult to contain in genre, as they are abstract superstructures
throughout modalities of culture. ‘Shepherd Eyes : Tracing myths, cosmologies and the vernacular’ looks
at allegorical interpretation to dissect its own methodology. In it, are found, fragments of history, folklore, and
linguistics. The cosmological concepts of rhythmic and cosmic motion, notion, order, aesthetic, and right have
to be inferred. This fluid state lends itself to a modern reworking in terms of shifting and partial truth, tied to
shifting and partial perception of reality. The exhibition looks towards showcasing and examining these pieces
of fickle actualities. Sources are mostly those of didactics or imagination. Differences arise in interpretation.
Meaning can be seen more in the process of living, specifically metaphorically linking singing and working,
and the dynamic interaction of different threads or paths of life.
